We love cars. We love driving them, maintaining them, making sure they’re in top form with trusted engine treatments, but there’s one thing all Malaysians dread, paying for parking in KL. These are 9 of the most expensive car parks in KL.
Besides paying tolls, which is a national past time at this point, paying for parking at almost every stop in the city is our next biggest pain.
The prices for parking increase exponentially as you circle closer to the main business district in KL and that’s not counting the probability that there’s even parking where you’re headed.
Sure you can park it under a tree in an alley somewhere, but would you really do that to the car you’ve paid a hefty sum for?
While this list is not a guarantee that your car will be protected, the high parking fees are a safety blanket of sorts, giving some metaphorical sense of security instead of the actual security since most of these parking operators eschew all responsibility to the safety of your car once you enter the premises.
Just read our stories about a car being stolen at the KLCC valet (yes, valet) and a car having a very crappy day in the basement parking of KL’s latest and swankiest shopping mall, TRX.
Without further ado, here’s the top 9 most expensive car parks in Kuala Lumpur:
We’ve sorted this list into the amount that you pay for the first 5 hours, since that’s just about the time the maximum payment per day kicks in or about the time we’re done with our errands in KL.
Also note that these are weekend rates since, well, you’ll probably be going to these places on the weekend too.
9. TRX Mall – RM21 for every 5 hours. RM5 for first hour and RM4 for every subsequent hour.
8. Suria KLCC – RM21 for every 5 hours. RM5 for first hour and RM4 for every subsequent hour.
7. Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur – RM28 for every 5 hours. RM8 first hour and RM5 subsequent hour.
6. Mandarin Oriental Hotel – RM30 for every 5 hours. First hour RM10 and RM5 for every subsequent hour.
5. W Hotel – also RM30 for every 5 hours. First hour RM10 and every hour after is RM5.
4. The Westin – RM32 for every 5 hours. First hour RM8 and every hour after that is RM6.
3. Grand Hyatt – RM33 for every 5 hours. RM13 first hour and RM5 every hour after.
2. Plaza OSK outdoor parking – RM40 for every 5 hours. RM4 for every 30 minutes.
1. Renaissance Hotel – RM42 for every 5 hours. RM10 first hour and RM8 every hour after.
Some of these places don’t even have a maximum cap per day which is another issue altogether. Let us know if you’d like us to make a list of the most affordable parking in KL next.
Which, now that we think about it, is probably going to be next to impossible.
