We love speed and in this article, you’ll find five incredible cars built by the blokes from Stuttgart. We’ll start the countdown with the ‘slowest’ of them.
5. 911 Turbo S
The 911’s design mantra has remained the same for more than five decades. With 580 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque, this machine can blast off from standstill to 100km/h in 2.9 seconds! Power goes from its 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat six to all four wheels.
4. Carrera GT
600 ponies at your beck and call. One of the most loved creations, this 5.7-litre aspirated V10 machine packs a punch like no other. Only 1,270 units were ever built and it is one the most sought-after modern classics around.
3. 959 S
A supercar that had all the technological requirements and was able to outshine any car on the planet in its heyday. Originally built for the famous (or infamous) Group B rallying scene, it was later made into a road-legal production car. The car is also known as the “Gates 959”, made famous by its 13-year storage by the US customs before the model had the United States Department of Transportation and the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s approval.
2. 911 GT2 RS
Track-day hunting had never been sooooo good. The 3.8-litre, 700-hp twin-turbo flat-six drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. 0-100 km/h is done in 2.7 seconds, with speeds up to 340 km/h! It is the fastest ever 911 to a record lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Nothing left to say.
1. 918 Spyder
In Porsche’s own words: Pure Energy.
Exuding an imposing presence, it is number one on the list. With 887 horsepower, the top speed on this is a blistering 345km/h. It is said that this car transformed the future of Porsche. If it can do that, it deserves to be numero uno or rather, ‘nummer eins’
