PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) has just launched the Audi RS Q8 and this super-SUV is the first ever full-size SUV to bear the RS badge.
It features practicality effortlessly for everyday use. One of its technical highlights is its RS-specific adaptive air suspension, all-wheel steering, sport differential and active roll stabilisation. Boasting a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 TFSI which accelerates the RS Q8 to 100km/h from rest in just 3.8 seconds. The power of the V8 TFSI flows to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system via the standard eight-speed tiptronic and wheel-selective torque control.
An imposing octagonal Singleframe, the RS-specific radiator in carbon and honeycomb grille in high gloss black contribute to a distinctly confident face for the RS Q8. A sloping roofline flows into the forward-canted D-pillars and rests against the quattro blisters above the wheel arches. An RS roof edge spoiler provides a striking finish at the top and provides downforce on the rear axle for even balance at high speeds. A track weapon at the core. Black Audi rings and RS logos at the front and rear complete the imposing design.
When you’re behind the wheel, the Audi Drive Select allows you to control engine and transmission management, steering boost, the air suspension, all-wheel steering, engine sound and the automatic air conditioning.
You can select from eight profiles (yes eight) which are comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency, allroad, offroad, and the individually configurable RS-specific modes RS1 and RS2, directly accessible via the “RS-MODE” button on the steering wheel.
During spirited corner driving, the quattro sport differential distributes drive torque between the rear wheels whenever the need requires whilst the active torque vectoring improves traction, stability and dynamics.
23-inch aluminium wheels in a 5 Y-spoke rotor design are offered incorporating the RS brake system with internally vented composite discs (420 mm) up front, 370 mm at the rear, with ceramic brakes in red as standard.
Inside, there is a clean design with slim instrument panel that showcases spaciousness. The central element in the cockpit is the top MMI touch response display. The Audi virtual cockpit and MMI display provide tyre pressure, torque, output, temperature, lap times and g-forces information. The head-up display also offers several RS-specific graphics.
RS sports seats come in perforated Valcona leather with honeycomb stitching. You also get a nice ventilation and massage function, while other RS interior elements include grey contrasting stitching on the knee pads, steering wheel rim, floor mats, and the edges of the seat belts.
There are illuminated front door sill trims and fine Nappa leather wraps the SUV’s selector lever knob and door armrest. Assist systems include adaptive cruise assist, efficiency assist, intersection assist, lane change warning and 360-degree camera.
