The Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain Ready to Conquer Borneo Safari

The Borneo Safari Borneo Safari International Off Road Challenge is one of the top off-road challenges in the world. Ask any 4×4 enthusiast and they’ll tell you. The Challenge returns  after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Hj Faez Nordin, the President of the Sabah Four Wheel Drive Association (SFWDA), received three units of the trucks from Isuzu Malaysia’s Marketing Manager, Alan Lee. These vehicles will be the official media vehicles during the expedition scheduled to run from 30th October 2022 till 6th November 2022.

As mentioned on the Borneo Safari Facebook page, the event is “an exclusive and upbeat Eight-Day 4WD expedition through Northern Borneo, covering 1000 km of some of the most challenging and varied OFF-ROAD terrains in the world.”

‘The concept of the Borneo Safari Expedition, unique in motor sport, is that of an adventure track with 4WDs through some of the world’s most incredibly beautiful yet most agonizingly difficult jungle terrains.

‘The Borneo Safari is designed as a competitive expedition to bring out the spirit of adventure, teamwork, skillful and safe driving and to bring out the very best in man and machine. It is not a motor rally nor a race! The participants will travel through the mountains and valleys and cross the streams and rivers; they will have their endurance, stamina and skill tested to the limit.

‘The Borneo Safari is a unique adventure where all participants, whether men or women enthusiasts or professional, have an equal chance of winning.

“An event of this magnitude requires tremendous support both in monetary terms as well as with the use of highly-capable vehicles. We are very grateful to Isuzu Malaysia for providing us with both once again as the event’s Platinum Sponsor and supplier of the official media cars,” said Faez.

The event this year is expected to traverse some of the most difficult terrain on the lower plateaus of Mount Kinabalu in the region of Kota Belud. While magnificent views of the mountain and crystal-clear river flowing waters are on offer, the rocky and rugged terrain poses a significant challenge to man and machine.

“The X-Terrain was selected as the flag bearer as it is endowed with a significant array of electronic driving aids. Coupled with its highly-engineered mechanical components, we believe the D-Max X-Terrain combines the brains and brawn required to become one of the most capable modern off-road vehicles in the event,” said Chief Operating Officer of Isuzu Malaysia Kenkichi Sogo.
