While we reviewed the Proton S70 and loved it, some other users weren’t so lucky with their purchase.
According to Facebook user Ku Azhar, he has faced a total of 73 problems since receiving his car on 2 February 2024.
According to him, on his visit to Proton’s Tanjung Malim plant, they had found 33 problems with the car. To date, 54 of the issues that have been identified have not been solved.
Among the major problems listed:
- Noisy steering rack and absorber
- Rattling engine
- AEB auto brakes around corners
- Infotainment system that’s stuck
- The car faces difficulty in starting up and remote start is not working
- Various scratches and dings in and round the car during delivery
There’s a detailed report on the page that lists that even Spotify was not working correctly in the car. Two songs would play at once or no sound would play.
The Spotify issue is one among the list of unsolved problems.
Currently, the owner is still waiting on feedback from Proton regarding his case and the person that is working on his case at Proton was on leave for the festive holidays.
This issue further amplifies the fact that Malaysia is in desperate need of the Lemon Law and that there should be protections in place for car buyers.
Many have called for Proton to issue a one-to-one replacement but at the time of writing, there’s no information of rectification by Proton.
