This will be the official name of the Italian manufacturer’s convertible version of its mid-engined model. The word Cielo means ‘sky’ and befits its no-roof profile. MC stands for “Maserati Corse” and 20 for “2020”, the year when the brand’s new era began. The full unveiling will be on May 25th.

“Cielo represents a different concept of performance and an unparalleled multi-sensorial driving experience. When its roof is open, new possibilities become within reach,” the teaser video on YouTube described.

It will be built in the same Viale Ciro Menotti factory as the MC20 coupe. In December 2021, teaser pics of a MC20 with roof camouflaged in sky blue and white clouds (above) were released.

We hear that power would still come from the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 as the coupe’s, and will generate 621 hp and 729 Nm of torque. The powerplant features two spark plugs per cylinder and an F1-derived pre-chamber combustion system. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission routes the power to the rear axle.

Stay tuned for more updates.
