The Toyota Supra 2.0 Is Dead, Long Live the Toyota Supra

After a mere 3 years of existence the Toyota Supra 2.0 will be discontinued in America.

The 3.0 model lives on however and the decision to axe the 2.0 litre model is likely made due to the poor sales compared to its higher capacity brethren.

Toyota Supra is now available exclusively with the powerful 3.0-liter B58 turbo engine that produces an impressive 387 hp. and 500 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox, for true driving enthusiasts, and an 8-speed ZF automatic, providing maximum acceleration.

Though the Toyota has been discontinued, the BMW Z4 lives on.

Car enthusiasts know that the two cars are brothers from almost the same mothers. Both were built by Magna Steyr in Austria. Both use the same structure and share all underbody hardpoints, suspension design, and powertrains.

Both BMW and Toyota freely admit that their cars (the Z4 M801 and the Supra) share the same chassis.

That said, that’s pretty much where the similarities end. The BMW is still a luxury vehicle while the Supra remains a race enthusiasts’ car.

While it’s a sad day for the entry-level model, we can all rejoice in the fact that the 3.0-litre beast will still be roaming the streets of America.
