California Police Start Seizing Teslas to Fight Crime

In a move that would seem to fit the pages of George Orwells book “1984”, police across the US have started to seize Teslas so that they can obtain the cars footage from the surveillance program built into all Teslas.

Tesla’s sentry mode, the feature that keeps a watchful eye over what is happening in the car’s vicinity is starting to prove itself both a blessing and a curse.

The mode uses the cars multiple cameras as an intelligent vehicle security system that will alert you if there is a threat nearby and sold as an antitheft device.

But Police in America have started to tow Teslas that were unfortunately parked close to the scene of a crime so that they can avail themselves of the footage stored in a thumb drive in the cars glove box as they know there could be evidence contained on it.

In one jurisdiction alone, Oakland California, Police have obtained at least three warrants to tow Teslas that may have become ‘eye-witnesses’ to a crime. It would appear that the Police are looking for much more than finger prints or DNA samples to solve crimes these days.

A recent report details how a Canadian Tourist had to talk the Police out of towing his car from a parking lot in which a violent crime had taken place. All ended well though as the tourist managed to talk the Police out of taking his car when he surrendered the thumb drive to them. It turns out the Tesla may have well witnessed a murder.
