During last month’s somewhat calamitous launch of the Cybertruck-Blade-Runner-thingy, Tesla also showed off its all-new Quad Bike ATV. However, at that time, they seemed to forget to tell us anything about it.
Now, Elon Musk has taken to a Q and A session on Twitter to let us know more about it. Apparently, the Cyberquad (come on, guys, come up with some good names will you?!) will launch at the same time as the Cybertruck (ugh!) which is, of course, no information at all as we do not have a confirmed date for that yet.
One thing we do know though is that there is no plan for Tesla to launch a standalone road-going motorbike, although Elon does think that an all-electric dirt bike would be fun. We also know that the ATV will be a two-seater and designed to work with or complement the Cybertruck. Guess they are going for the eco-minded off-road adventurer market all in one go.
Elon Musk has consistently maintained that Tesla will eventually have an EV model for every vehicle category in order to provide a sustainable energy alternative and the Cybertruck and Cyberquad are a part of this strategy. Of course, things didn’t quite go as planned during the launch when two of the side windows were smashed during the demonstration to prove how ‘bullet-proof’ the vehicle is.
Undeterred, the great Tesla-loving public placed a massive 250,000 pre-orders, generating about 25 million dollars of down payments. And all for a truck that is not really past the concept stage yet. Having said that, the prototype truck was seen driving around roads in Hawthorne which is a town near SpaceX’s Californian home.
The Cyberquad shares a similar futuristic design as the Cybertruck and is built to be both transported and charged on the flatbed of the truck. Pre-orders for the Cyberquad are not yet listed on Tesla’s website though.
Still think it is butt ugly……
