Singaporean Man Fined RM9.1K For Kicking M’sian Man’s Car In Viral Road Rage Incident
A 46-year-old Singaporean man was fined RM9,100 today at the Magistrate’s Court after he pleaded guilty to two charges relating to viral road rage incident.
The defendant, Cheng Kuan Poh Colin, a human resources manager, made the guilty plea when the charges were read to him in Mandarin before Magistrate A. Shaarmini, reported The Star.
For the first charge, Cheng was accused of committing mischief by damaging Ng Yeow Meng’s Malaysian-registered continental car at Jalan Sutera Tanjung 8/4, Taman Sutera Utama, at 2.39pm on June 7.
As for the second charge, he was accused of insulting Ng’s modesty by spitting on his face at the same place and time.
Cheng’s lawyer, Norfarahin Mohd Yazid, asked for a lower fine, saying that he has to care for his ill, bed-ridden parents.
“He earns S$2,000 (RM6,595) as a human resources manager, and this is his first offence,” she added.
Eventually, Cheng was ordered to pay a fine of RM4,300 in default of six months’ jail for the first charge and RM4,800 in default of six months’ jail for the second charge.
The incident was first brought to light following a viral video which showed Cheng kicking Ng’s car and yelling at him.
Coincidentally, Cheng was also found to be involved in a road rage incident that occurred two years ago.
