The Driver of the Crashed AMG GT-R in Sepang Shares His Account of the Incident

In lengthy Facebook post, the driver of the AMG GT-R that crashed has spoken out about the incident.
“Still wrapping my head around the fact that I’m here, typing this.
From a chill guidance lap to a crash that was life and death. It was light braking of about 24 times, and it totally gone. AI data estimates impact would be about 50G. I’m glad we both walked away and were lucky to survive.
When something like this happens, you don’t just survive, you wake up. Trusting the wrong people with your car can have serious consequences, especially when safety is compromised. If you’re heading to the track, don’t cut corners. Go to workshops that know what they’re doing. Your life, and someone else’s, could depend on it.
This incident shows how precious life is. Not gonna lie, my spine’s injured, both ankles ligament torn. It’s gonna take some time. Truly grateful and inspired from all the messages, calls, visits and everyone who checked in. I have built meaningful connections with old and new friends.
Bell hp77 full face helmet, seat belt, airbags, and amazing amg saved my life.
Special thanks to William & Alson for making swift and wise decisions by sending me to the hospital. And thank you to my loved ones who stayed around. Physically and mentally. Thank you all for the continuous support.
My race has not ended, I will learn how to crash, and go full out again. It’s a race of my life. I WILL BE BACK!”
After the video of the crash went viral, many users have commented that it was a skill issue, or that the driver didn’t downshift in time, they tackled the corner way too fast, or that the driver didn’t have the proper position on the steering wheel.
The semi-professional racer has participated in GT3, Formula, kart, and touring races. Notably they’ve driven around Sepang extensively, 306 laps to be exact.
Though not relevant to the story, we discovered that they are a financial planner in Singapore, and a pretty successful one at that.
Well, at least they’re out there, driving a million-dollar car and crashing it, rather than sitting behind a monitor commenting on crashes.
Here’s to a speedy recovery, bud. Hope to see you in a functioning AMG GT-R this time.
