MINIacs Take to the Tracks in New MINI John Cooper Works Countryman and Clubman
BMW Group Malaysia brought together some of the country’s MINIacs at the Sepang International Circuit earlier this month. At the MINI Track Day 2020, they were challenged to the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Track Experience and MINI Driving Experience, during which they were put behind the wheel of some of the most powerful JCW models available and had their driving skills put to the test.
The MINI models featured at the Track Experience included the New MINI John Cooper Works Countryman 306HP and the New MINI John Cooper Works Clubman 306HP, and drivers could experience the cars’ “concentrated power with motor racing genes”. It was an immersion in the heritage of the JCW legacy, and an opportunity to get up close with the new and classic MINI JCWs. Drivers and allocated MINI vehicles took to the track to test out what the car could offer in terms of performance while having that “go-kart feeling” expected of a MINI.
Meanwhile, the MINI Driving Experience showed how driving can be fun and safe at the same time. Drivers putting the cars through high-speed handbrake turns could ascertain the car’s handling and hone their own driving skills in critical situations.
MINIacs also got to meet the limited-edition New MINI Countryman Blackheath Edition. This Countryman variant was thusly named to reflect the dark shrubland of its namesake in South East London. It is powered by the newly updated MINI TwinPower Turbo engine mated to the 7-Speed Sport Dual Clutch Transmission.
