MG Cyberster – the Electric Sports Car to Challenge Others in its Segment

MG will turn 100 years in 2024 and to commemorate that occasion, they will be releasing their electric sports car, the MG Cyberster. The former British manufacturer, now owned by Chinese conglomerate SAIC, wants to bring back what we associate MG with in the past – lightweight, low-cost and thrill to drive models.

After its debut in the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, it was announced that the MG Cyberster will be confirmed for production.

“We are working on a surprise for you guys. Of course, we know we were the affordable sports car brand in the past, and now we are the new electric vehicle brand, and we will surprise you. We will be in markets that nobody has been in before, ” said the brand’s spokesperson. “So far, no brand has introduced any affordable electric convertible sports car.”

The car won’t deviate much from the concept car shown. According to MG, the  electric concept can sprint from 0-11- km/h in under three seconds and has an 800km driving range.

No other details were given on its electric motors, power output nor safety functions. Carl Gotham, MG UK’s design chief, says the car will incorporate the brand heritage with cutting-edge technology and advanced design.

“Sports cars are the lifeblood of the MG DNA, and the Cyberster is a hugely exciting concept for us,” he said.
