Awful is the highlight here

The MAEXTRO S800 is not a typo, a product manager somewhere in China actually typed out those letters in that sequence and thought it was better than maestro, a common word that is actually more befitting this luxury entrant to the EV market.

Now Huawei, the phone company, are notorious for copying, it went viral for copying the iPhone down to the screws.

But nobody would guess that even their first expensive foray into EVs would be so blatant a rip-off. Just look at this Rolls Royce.

What a beauty.

We’ve already opined about the fact that we’re all just OK with buying cheap clones from China, but are people really clamouring for discounts even in this price range?

Sadly, if these numbers are to be believed, the Maextro S800 has already received 2,000 pre-orders in two days.

As for its similarities to other cars, the disc wheels are Rolls-Royce-inspired, the chrome-accented lower bumper intake is from Bentley afterthought, and the bi-tone is originally from the Maybach. Finally, out back you see the familiar silhouette of a Porsche Panamera.

To be clear, JAC Motors and Huawei jointly built the MAEXTRO brand’s first car, S800. It comes as an ultra-high-end vehicle in the market. It has a dimension of 5480 x 2000 x 1536mm and a wheelbase of 3370mm.

In China, the car is priced within the range of a Mercedes EQS and a BMW i7, so significantly lower than a Bentley, Rolls Royce, or Maybach that its copying from.

What’s next on the printer we wonder?
