The phrase no good deed comes to mind here but we’d rather not say it. A good samaritan lost his life recently after helping another crash victim.
Tan Wing Foo, 47, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Bentong Hospital about 7pm, some two hours after the mishap.
A single father, Tan leaves behind three daughters, aged 7, 9, and 11.
District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said a member of the public alerted the Bentong police headquarters about an accident along the stretch at 5.30pm.
“Investigations revealed that the initial accident involved a car travelling from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur, which skidded before ending up in a drain.
“Several passing motorists stopped their vehicles along the road shoulder to help.

“Tan had parked his vehicle and was attempting to control traffic along the expressway when a car travelling in the same direction lost control before crashing into him.
“This resulted in four people, including Tan, sustaining injuries.
“They were sent to Bentong Hospital for treatment. However, Tan later died from his injuries. Police will record the statements of several witnesses at the scene to assist in investigations,” he said in a statement today.
Zaiham said the case is being investigated for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. He urged witnesses to come forward to assist in investigations.
