Electric Vehicle Fire: Neta V Struck By Lorry Tyre Catches Fire on Plus Highway
A new Electric Vehicle fire incident has been reported and this time around, it is a Neta V that has caught fire on the PLUS highway, reportedly after hitting a tyre debris. Specifically, the incident occurred at KM277.6 on the PLUS Highway (Northbound) on the morning of November 9th, 2024.
Everyone involved in the incident, 2 passengers and 1 driver, were safe and unharmed from the incident.
One of the passengers that was involved in the incident, Liang WaiMeng, took Facebook to explain what happened. According to him, they stopped the car on the emergency lane after the impact. About 5 minutes after clearing the car, it started to catch fire.
Liang WaiMeng actually praised the Neta V’s reliability in the Facebook post.
He commented on the airbag function, chair shape that protected them, and that they were able to steer into the emergency lane without issue.
He did also mention how the car caught fire after 5 minutes. NETA has released a statement on Facebook eschewing responsibility for the fire so far and rubbishing talks of defects.
You know, it’s common for cars to still function safely after an object hits it, but you know what’s not common? Fires.
We recently wrote about a Tesla that caught fire after an accident, in which case, all passengers sadly lost their lives.
If you’re unfamiliar, the NETA V is one of the most affordable EVs in Malaysia right now priced just about RM100,000.
Sure, ICE vehicles may catch fire too. But we haven’t heard of any that spontaneously combust because of a punctured engine.
