Reason for BYD Atto 3 That Stopped Without Warning On Highway Revealed

We previously wrote about a BYD Atto 3 that stalled in the middle of the highway and now we’ve received an update to the case.

In a post shared on Facebook, the owner of the car shared dashcam footage showing the BYD Atto 3 braking to a full stop in the middle of the highway, going from 106km/h to zero in seven seconds.

That’s hardly enough time for the cars behind to react and the owner is lucky they didn’t end up at the hospital.

According to the post, BYD Sime Motors visited the owner in Melaka to explain the issue. While initial assessments indicated that the 12V battery was the culprit, the final diagnosis revealed the cause to be a sensor at the driver’s door.

Why would a car door sensor cause the car to make a complete stop?

We recently opined about modern cars’ safety features, which are pretty dumb, but this ‘feature’ takes the cake.

According to the explanation given, the damaged sensor mistakenly triggered the vehicle’s safety shutdown sequence.

This caused the Atto 3 to initiate rapid emergency braking, which activated the hazard lights and brought the car to a complete stop in under seven seconds. A full system power-off followed this.

You know how Windows computers so frequently get the blue screen of death? Its the same thing, just with cars.

Imagine that happening to more and more EVs on the road as more sheeple adopt EVs before they’re actually ready.

Knowing the massive lawsuit coming their way, BYD Sime Motors repurchased the vehicle from the owner via a full settlement to the bank.

The owner of the vehicle had already paid instalments for the past 10 months, but in Malaysia, where consumers’ rights are higher only to the rights of prisoners on death row, the move by BYD Sime Motors was actually lauded by netizens.

Oh, when will we get the lemon law in Malaysia, and when will we push back against these smartphones on wheels and go back to driving purpose-built machines?
