If you had to guess what the best-selling car in Malaysia for 2023, what would it be? Based The answer is both unsurprisingly and fascinating if you look into Malaysia’s history.
According to statistics from data.gov.my, a Malaysian government-owned website that tracks the amount of cars that are registered with the Road Transportation Department (JPJ), the number one, most registered car is:
Perodua Bezza
Any car in Malaysia has to be registered with JPJ before it can be legally driven, so if nothing else, the amount of registered vehicles is a good indication of the popularity of a vehicle and the actual amount of them on the road.
At 56,735 cars registered, the Perodua Bezza is the best-selling car in Malaysia for the year 2023.
Here’s the rest of the cars on the list as of 31 August 2023:

What was the best-selling car in 2022?
Interestingly, the Perodua Myvi took first place last year with 74,838 cars sold with the top 3 cars being dominated by Perodua once again.
Notably, in the Japanese carmaker space, the Honda City beat the Toyota Vios again last year, most probably due to the launch of the all-new generation of the Honda City.
Though the Toyota Vios also appeared with a facelift in 2023, the amount of cars registered at the time of writing was only 13,592.
Though we don’t see any EVs cracking the top 10, we reported previously on the smart #1 that seems to be making waves locally.
