Perodua defies Industry Forecast

Despite the Malaysia Automotive Association (MAA) reducing industry-wide sales projection from 650,000 vehicles to 580,000 vehicles, Perodua has maintained its sales target for the year 2016. In the first half of the year, Perodua has already sold 97,400 vehicles, with the Axia accounting for more than half of the sales; the automaker is expecting to achieve its target of 216,000 by year-end, thanks to its newly launched Bezza sedan and the continued popularity of the best-selling Axia.

As of Wednesday morning, the Perodua has already received 10,115 bookings for the Bezza; 500 of which have reached the hands of new owners since delivery began on 21 July, from the 7,000 units already made ready. By month-end, Perodua expects to have 9,000 units completed for delivery.

Perodua’s revenue in the first six months of the year saw a 13% year-on-year increase, to MYR330 million. It also saw improvements in parts sales and the number of vehicles that patronised its service centres.
