Automologist MAC is getting ideas on getting out of speeding tickets, from this Honda Civic R advert.

Honda has released a new advert that is raising quite a few eyebrows, especially amongst the law enforcement community. The carmaker’s commercial, targeting the Israeli market, seems to suggest that you can only truly appreciate the new Honda Civic R if you get your female partner to fake going into labour in the passenger seat if you are pulled over.

I have often marvelled at our obsession with the power output and speed of the cars we buy when the sad fact is that the only time we could really enjoy all of that wasted horsepower is if we don’t care about getting a ticket, or better still, have some sort of immunity to tickets. Of course, with more than 300 horsepower, a top speed of almost 270kph and a 0-100kph time of 5.7 seconds, the Civic R is more than capable of assisting you to put a few points onto your license.

The advert, which has been labelled controversial, shows a bright red Honda Civic R being pulled over by the local constabulary for speeding. The driver begins to lower the window at which point the lady passenger screams, “Drive or I am having this baby here!” Of course, even the bravest traffic cop will back away from this scenario and allow the vehicle on its way.

The advert goes one step further by detailing the training they gave to actresses by a midwife to ensure authenticity. Have a view of the advert below. Now, I wonder if I can persuade my wife that this is a good ruse…
