To continually innovate and compete with competitors in the Chinese domestic market, Yulon-Nissan recently launched a facelifted version of the Livina. There are four variations available, namely the Classic, Connoisseur, Deluxe and Flagship versions, selling for RMB575 000, RMB599 000, RMB635 000 and RMB665 000 respectively (reduced by RMB4000 from the original published prices). Yulon-Nissan targets to sell 700 units per month and 6600 units for the rest of this year; a highly ambitious target that reflects the attention and efforts that have been channeled to the new Livina.

‘Facelift’ often implies a slight modification. However, the extent of the modifications on the Livina in China can be considered major; in addition to front and rear exteriors’ cosmetic changes, the vehicle had undergone ‘rhinoplasty’ to create a V-shaped grille on the nose of the car; internal changes include the on-the-road traffic information display via the luminous, dual circle dashboard. An optional super multimedia set comes with an additional RMB25 000 price tag. The chassis had undergone sound-proof enhancements, and the bumpers and body parts are more solid than the previous make.

The engine had been replaced by a new generation design, similar to the Tiida 1.6 L HR16DE, providing a power boost from 105hp to 115hp, with an increased maximum torque of 15.7kgm. The new version has the new X-CVT step-less gearbox, replacing the conventional four-speed automatic gear. Fuel consumption had been improved to 18.9km/l.

Looking at all the changes that the Nissan Livina had undergone, it is hardly a minor facelift. In fact, it almost looks like a brand new car!
